My latest series of paintings depict some of the country scenes in and around Connecticut.
Petunias and Geraniums are set on a white-washed country table up higher than eye level.
The Boy Picking Apples was painted from a study of a common activity here in the fall, apple picking. Whole families make a day of it, go to the closest pick your own orchard, grab a bag, sit on the wagon, and head out to the orchards. There are so many rows of different varieties and the kids love to run up and down the rows, chomping on an apple as they go.
The chickens in the barnyard was a scene that I painted plein air in Vermont. The chickens shared a roost with the horse. They had the run of the garden during the day.
The horse pull is a popular activity at the New England fairs in the fall. The horses compete by pulling heavy cement blocks. The team that pulls the farthest and the heaviest wins. |
